Bomb threats and shootings

Should a bomb threat or shooting occur, call police at 114 or emergency response at 112. These services are responsible for handling the situation.

Communications regarding the incident are managed by the UCL Communications Department in collaboration with Facility Service and the police if necessary.

Bomb threat

If anyone tells you there is a bomb, take it seriously
- Write down what you are told
- If possible, record the conversation

Have all persons leave the building

 

Shooting

ALWAYS flee if posible

BARRICADES
 - Lock or block the door
 - Close curtains

Be QUIET and put your phone on silent
 - Use tables and other furnishings for additional cover

FIGHT for your life
 - Engage all your strength in defending yourself
 - Attempt an explosive, powerful, and surprise attack

 

General recommendations: If you are safe

FLEE

Get away from the area of danger and flee to a safe area.

That is better than surrendering.

HIDE

If you cannot escape, hide. Put your phone on silent and turn off vibration. If you are able, set up a barricade to get behind.

CALL FOR HELP

Call 112 when it is safe to do so. Stay calm upon police arrival. Follow police instructions and put your hands where they can be seen.
